Yep, that’s my favourite airport in the whole wide world. Now, why is that? There must be something about Hong Kong to make it so special to me. I also feel Paris’ de Gaulle airport is very special in a nomad kind of a way and so is London’s Heathrow. Those places struck as chaotic and noisy, both of those adjectives make a bad first impression. Hong Kong has finesse.

FINESSE
It’s wide open and huge not to mention amazingly clean. When you walk in you are immediately engulfed by friendliness: beautiful people, beautiful staff, friendly service, clean environment, open spaces that let you see far, artwork, shops, lounges… It is almost like walking in to a coffee shop with a twist of grandeur. This setting compares to finest hotels and all those things draw me like a magnet.
NOTION OF HIGH LIFE
Some people need that fancy car or house to get that feeling, but I need Hong Kong airport to get this feeling. What that feeling? We need acceptance and admiration from other people and impressive things are the most straight-forward way to get to that position. Most people would choose to be important on the very spot, if they only were asked. However, my feeling is more personal, more towards inside myself instead of outside towards others.
PERSONAL FEELING
I like the feeling of a silk shirt on my skin and I like to suit up in Armani, but I don’t like the attention that I might get by wearing those clothes (well OK, maybe a little). It is more about placing myself into a movie setting sort of a feeling. Surreal moments that don’t seem to have space in my daily routine. I understand that sitting in an Audi R8 would be wonderfully cool, but still that quite doesn’t do it for me. Instead I like to sit on an open space and watch people go by, that makes me feel important, being part of global economy and those who take a plane to somewhere secret.
